Getting started
What is Downroad?
Downroad is a free website for finding local food. Search for a food and see which nearby vendors have it.
What kinds of vendors are on Downroad?
Farms, ranches, farmers markets, bakeries, and other local food makers.
How do I find vendors near me?
Type a food you want and add your ZIP code. Pick how far you'll go, from 10 to 100 miles. Switch between List and Map to browse.
Is Downroad free?
Yes. Browsing vendors on Downroad is free. There's no membership.
Do I need an app?
No. Downroad works in any web browser, on your phone or computer.
Buying from a vendor
How do I buy?
Tap Buy on their site to order on the vendor's own website. If they don't take online orders, tap Message vendor to send them a note.
What does Message vendor do?
It opens a short note to the vendor that you can edit. Then you can copy it, send a text, or open it in email, depending on how the vendor can be reached. Downroad doesn't send it for you.
How do I purchase from vendors?
You buy directly from the vendor, on their website or by messaging them. Downroad doesn't take payment.
Getting your food
How do I get my food?
Each vendor decides. Look for Pickup, Farmers market, Delivery, Shipping, or CSA / subscription on their vendor page.
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You sign up with a farm and get a share of its food on a regular schedule. Find farms offering CSA shares
Can I see prices and what's in stock?
Not on Downroad. Prices and stock change often, so check with the vendor before you go.
